Going off STAYING ON eBay Sale!

We're back, baby!

To celebrate being able to offer services to our clients on eBay, Paymate is reducing fees on all Paymate eBay payments until FURTHER NOTICE!

On 3 July 2008, eBay withdrew their proposal to make Paymate and other services  ‘illegal’ in the eBay world - giving back freedom of choice to the many buyers and sellers who may prefer an Australian provider like Paymate.  We applaud this decision and look forward to helping make eBay a safe and secure trading platform.  We would like to thank the many, many people who pledged us their support and encouraged us to take the battle up to the ACCC.

In its draft notice, the ACCC considered that “PayPal offers sellers more protection than some other methods of payment, however, PayPal is not unique in this respect as it offers similar seller protection to that provided by Paymate.”[5.160]

“Accordingly, the ACCC considers the notified conduct will generate negligible public benefits for sellers on eBay.”[5.162]

The evidence available does not support the view that PayPal is the most secure method of payment, or offers the best service for all transactions.”[5.173]

SPECIAL OFFER: No Buyer Fees!

Until further notice, Paymate will waive our Buyer Fees on all eBay-related payments – the payment must be for an auction or Buy it Now purchase on eBay.com.au or eBay.com, verifiable by eBay Item Number and MUST be initiated from a link sent by the eBay seller (see note below).

Buyers DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER but must click on an Express Payment link sent by the seller and enter the eBay Item number in the Order/Reference field.

Also check out on eBay: Paymate Listings Thread and Paymate is Allowed.

Read the not very fine print!

Sales by Australian sellers on www.ebay.com.au and www.ebay.com for ebay purchases only.  Paymate reserves the right to charge buyer fees should the transaction not be a genuine eBay purchase.  Seller’s will need to pay $0.50 per payment in addition to their seller fees (to cover small payments, sorry!) as currently published here: Fees & Charges – Australia.  For example, for a Standard Account, sellers will pay 2.4% + $0.50 + GST.

Note to Sellers:  Please send a link to Paymate Express to your successful buyer, prepopulated with your Paymate username and eBay Item Number for them to click on.   Please include this additional parameter in the link URL: &KW=EB.
