Getting started with Paymate

Here are easy steps to creating a Paymate account and getting you ready to start accepting online payments.

Step One: Creating a Paymate Account:

  1. If you are an eBay Seller you should open a "Standard Australian Account". If you are an online seller open the account most suitable to your business needs.
  2. You will then receive an email from Paymate confirming registration and instructing you to log in to the Paymate website to your newly created account.
  3. Once logged into the "My Account" tab you need to complete the Paymate merchant account application. You will be asked to supply identifying information.

You now have a Paymate account. In order to start selling online, you need to add a bank account to your Paymate account (see Step 2 on this page for more details). Remember that a Paymate account does not carry a balance, all the money from your sales is credited directly into your bank account with no action required from you.

Step Two: Adding a bank account to your Paymate account:

1. Log in to your Paymate account.
2. Click on your "My Account" tab, then choose "Financial Details".add-bank-acct
3. Fill in your banking details and Save.

Congratulations, you have now added a bank account and can start receiving online payments; you will shortly receive an email acknowledging this. The last step to get your account 100% set up is to proceed to your bank account verification.

Step Three: Verify your bank account:

Bank account verification is a "ping" process designed to verify the connection to your bank account as well as whether you are the owner of the designated bank account.

Here is how it works :

When you add or modify a bank account, Paymate automatically initiates the verification process. Paymate will 'ping' your bank account by debiting and crediting a pair of matching transactions. On your bank statement they will be labelled "PAYMATE xxxxx...". Note that this may take a few days to appear on your bank statement.
Once you have the matching transactions appearing on your bank statement, log in to your Paymate account. Under the "My Account" tab click on "Financial Details", and then click on the "Verify" link that appears next to your bank account status, which will redirect you to the verification page.
On the verification page you will need to type in the amount of money deposited in your bank account, and then Save.
